LICENSED PROFESSIONAL COUNSELOR

For nearly five years I worked as an advocate, forensic interviewer, and mental health therapist for children who have experienced abuse, neglect, and complex trauma at Voices of Courage Children’s Advocacy Center. While there I received training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), play therapy, art therapy, and Sand Tray Therapy, amongst others. I worked closely with Law Enforcement, Children’s Division, Juvenile Office, Prosecutor’s Office, medical personnel and the school district to ensure the needs of each child was met during the investigation, prosecution, and recovery of crimes committed against them. I was called as an expert witness and testified in several cases.

Prior to Voices of Courage, I worked two years to ensure quality of services provided to adults with developmental disabilities, three years in behavioral health within a psychiatric correctional facility in Miami, FL, and another year managing cases for children in foster and adoptive placements. During my training as an intern I provided court-ordered group therapy services for parents, substance users, and intimate partner batterers.
